Obituary for Doris La Corte

Doris La Corte, 96, of Long Branch, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 2nd. She was a parishioner of St. Michael’s RC Church in Long Branch.

Mrs. La Corte was born in West Orange and lived in Short Hills. As a girl, she spent summers with her grandmother and family on Cottage Place in Long Branch. During this time she met Fritz La Corte, her future husband. Doris and Fritz were married on October 2, 1948.

Doris loved the ocean and the La Cortes moved to Pullman Avenue in Elberon in 1960 to a house across from the beach. In this home, the doors were never locked and family and friends were always welcome. Long afternoons were spent around the pool, talking and laughing and enjoying great food. Doris was an exceptional cook and would pull together amazing meals for her family and anyone else who dropped by. She was the heart and soul of the home and, whether it was baking cakes at six in the morning or making sure there were extra towels, through her loving, warm and fun nature, Doris created an atmosphere of joy, making her home the centerpiece of their family and the community that was created by her family and friends. She would set the stage for everyone to enjoy themselves and then just let it all unfold.

Holidays were an especially wonderful time where Doris would gather her large family together to enjoy the holiday feast. It is a tradition she passed on to her children and she will be dearly missed at every holiday table from now on, although her spirit will live always the hearts of all those who loved her.

Doris was devoted to the Rosary and would say it often, and all her family and friends were always included in her prayers. Many friends would call and ask her to pray a rosary for their family members

She was pre-deceased in 2004 by her loving husband, Fritz.

Surviving Doris is her loving family, Michael and Ellen La Corte, Titusville, NJ; Rocque La Corte, Stuart, Fl.; Barbara La Corte, Long Branch; Guy and Linda La Corte, West Allenhurst; and Dean and Danielle La Corte, Monmouth Beach; her grandchildren: Chris and Roxie La Corte; Nick and Mags La Corte; Ali and Noah Accorsi; Luke La Corte; Jack La Corte; Sam La Corte and Sophia La Corte; her two great grandchildren: Amelia La Corte and Zane Accorsi; and her sister-in-law, Mary Kay Buckridge, Stuart, Fl.
